History
História
The history of CHAGAS begins with Francisco das Chagas Ferreira, pharmacist/biochemist from the Universidade Regional do Nordeste, now known as the State University of Paraíba and a Post Graduate in Clinical Hematology from the University of Guarulhos/SP. He was born at home, in Sítio Catolezinho, municipality of Bom Sucesso in the hinterland of Paraíba on August 23, 1957, the eldest of 9 children born to Francisco Ferreira da Cruz and Maria Amável Ferreira, both farmers. Since he was a child, he would wake up at dawn to help his father work in the fields.
He always wanted to study, however, due to the difficulties of the sertão, he only started his studies at the age of 13. In 1978, at the age of 21, he left the farm to live in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, to attend high school, there he lived at the Casa do Estudante Institution, where he also worked as a librarian at the institution during the day and studied during the night.
In 1980, at the age of 23, he finished high school and in January 1981 he tried his first entrance exam for the Medicine course, however he did not pass and so he had to return to the farm. In 1982, he moves to the city of Campina Grande / PB to take the prep course and prepare for a new entrance exam, but he can only stay in the city studying for 4 months due to financial difficulties, and thus returns to life in the countryside. .
In 1983, still working in the fields, young Chagas had time to discover his true vocation, Clinical Analysis. At this moment the young man was faced with his new dream and there would be no difficulty or obstacle that would be greater than his willpower. Approved by the Universidade Regional do Nordeste, he began his pharmacy and biochemistry course from 1984 to 1988. At the same time that he realized his dream, he met Iaponan Silva Canuto Ferreira, who would soon become his wife, mother of his two daughters Renally and Raissa.
In 1988, at the age of 30, he finished the course already hired by CLIPSI Hospital Geral de Campina Grande. However, with the dream of setting up his own laboratory, he leaves the financial stability of the Hospital to pursue his dream in the south of Bahia. Arriving in the region, he went to live in the city of Ubaitaba/BA where he started working at the Prontanalise Laboratory, which later, for excellence in its services, was invited to become a partner, and also worked in the neighboring city of Itabuna/BA at the Laboratory of the Hospital da Holy House.
In 1993, in pursuit of his goal of building his own laboratory so that he could provide services with excellence and differentiated quality, he resigns from his position at Hospital da Santa Casa in Itabuna and leaves the company of Laboratório Prontanalise, to found together with his wife Iaponan the CHAGAS LABORATORY CLINICAL in the city of Ubaitaba/BA. With the recognition already established for his work, he was invited by Hospital São Vicente de Paula to exclusively attend to all laboratory services.
In 1996 he discovers Barreiras and is enchanted by the city, he also sees the high potential in the health area. So in 1998, given the prospects, he set up a branch in the city, in which his brother, also a pharmacist/bichemist, Paulo Ferreira, and his sister, a social worker, Fátima Ferreira, were responsible.
Because Barreiras is a welcoming, prosperous and safe city, in 2004 he decides to move from Ubaitaba with his family to Barreiras, thus also deciding to transfer the headquarters to the city.
Due to its ethical and transparent work, it was possible to build strong bonds with health professionals, which in 2007 represented the implementation of several support and collection posts in the city.
Always thinking about expanding and being closer to its customers, in 2013 a laboratory branch was installed in the city of Cotegipe/BA.
In 2017, the management of the company was renewed with the arrival of his daughter Raissa as administrator. In the same year, production capacity was increased through the automation expansion project, investing in machines with ROCHE, SYSMEX and AVL brand technologies, these new technologies increased productivity. Thus, CHAGAS lives in constant search to offer quality services and a humanized service.
